Fundraising Heroes

Total raised in 2009 = £9,199

We are always on the lookout for fundraising heroes to carry out their own ideas in aid of Venture Scotland! You could...

  • Take part in a sponsored event e.g. fun run, adventure race. See events you could do!
  • Put on a fundraising meal or party for friends or family
  • Give something up for month (or two) e.g. chocolate, smoking, coffee, swearing!
  • Host a quiz or games evening
  • Take on your own personal challenge e.g. walk the West Highland Way
  • Requests donations instead of gifts for a special occasion like a birthday

For more inspiration, read the stories of the heroes we've recruited so far...

Chris and the Solfest vols!

What I did:

I organised for Venture Scotland to get a donation in return for encouraging people to volunteer at Solfest, a musica festival that I help to organise. VS volunteers did a brilliant job using all their skills to look after festival goers. A big thank you to everyone who took part!

What I'm doing:

The London Marathon, 26th April 2009

Why I'm doing it:

"I love this charity - they do brilliant work and it's a pleasure to be involved with them. This year is also their 21st birthday, and in honour of their 'coming of age' I'm going to try to knock 21 minutes off my previous best time for a marathon (from 3.52 to 3.31) and raise £2100."

What I'm doing:

Antwerp 70.3 (1.2 m swim, a 56m bike and a 13.1m run), 2nd Aug 2009

Why I'm doing it:

"Working for Venture Scotland means I see on a daily basis the progression our young people are making and the effort that goes on behind the scenes.  I wanted to do my bit by raising our profile, and funds.  I have been entering triathlons for the last four year so doing a 1/2 Ironman seemed like a natural progression!"

The fantasic Clyde Canoeists

What they did!

Back in May 2009, an intrepid band of 21 canoeists took part in a two-day canoeing adventure in aid of Venture Scotland! Teams and individuals did a stirling job to raise sponsorship for VS as well as taking on a 50km stretch of the Clyde. Thanks again to our partners Wiston Lodge for helping us to run this fab event.

Watch this space as we hope to run this event again next year!

If you'd like to be one of our fundraising heroes, contact Adrian in the Edinburgh office on 0131 475 2395 to let us know your ideas!
