Weds 29th Nov, Venture Scotland Presentation Evening

The Venture Scotland community enjoyed fantastic presentations from the COPE groups and from volunteers who had been involved in supporting them.

Fri 10th - Sun 12th Nov, Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Expedition for all COPE participants, Loch Voil to Loch Lubnaig challenge!

The COPE participants navigated a tricky canoe trip for their final challenge.

Well done to volunteers Christine Hamilton, Sarah Lewis, Scott Keiller, Helen Pickles & Kate Dix for their logistical and paddling support!

Fri 27th - 31st Oct, LBV6 for Glasgow participants, Glen Etive

The Glasgow team headed up to the Glen for their intrepid canoeing expedition.

Fri 13th - Tue 17th Oct, LBV5 for Edinburgh participants, Glen Etive

Unfortunately the digital camera had a little accident and was not up to recording

the trip for posterity. So you'll have to wait a wee while for trip photos to be developed

from the throwaway camera.

Fri 29th Sep - Tue 3rd Oct, LBV4 for Glasgow participants, Glen Etive

The Glasgow team enjoy a similar expedition to the Edinburgh crew, with the added bonus

of a beautiful daybreak by the side of the loch.

And it couldn't have happened without fantastic volunteers Lynda Robinson, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Scott Keiller, Jen Walker, Gillz McDiarmid and Andy Doctor. Thanks guys.

Fri 15th - Tue 19th Sep, LBV3 for Edinburgh participants, Glen Etive

Edinburgh participants first 5 day expedition, canoeing in Loch Etive and looking after the

are around the bothy, including some emergency repair to the tree nursery which had

been damaged by rampaging cows!

The Glasgow participants from BV6 and BV7 travelled up to the Bothy for the weekend.

3rd - 7th July, Ethnic Minority Activity Week at locations across Scotland

Venture Scotland teamed up with the Black Environment Network to run a great week of activities for young people from ethnic minority communities.

Weds 28th June, COPE Presentation Evening, South Bridge Resource Centre

We enjoyed a great evening of presentations by the participants from the first COPE course of the year and from volunteers Chris Yule, Alan Rooney and Ali Avery.

Sat 10th - Sun 11th June, Duke of Edinburgh Qualifier Expedition, Glen Trool

The final trip for our COPE group saw them navagating their own way through Glen Trool to achieve their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Thurs 8th - Fri 9th June, Ecological Field Survey, Glen Etive.

On possibly the sunniest few days in Glen Etive this year, we begin the first stage of a process which will allow all members of Venture Scotland the chance to decide on the future of Kinlochetive bothy.

Special Thanks to Clare Carpenter of Creating Connections and Dr Joe Hope for their invaluable fieldwork expertise in creating a detailed baseline map of the bothy surrounds.

Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th June, Working Weekend, Glen Etive.

Work continues apace on the tree nursery.

Endless praises to Chris James for stepping in at the last minute to enable a very productive working weekend to happen.

Fri 26th - Tue 30th May, COPE, Skye

The COPE group spread their wings with an adventurous trip to Skye.  Wet weather conditions challenged the team with ever changing plans, river crossings and wild camps, none the less fun was had by all!

A special thanks to the volunteers who took time off work to make this trip happen: Chris James, Chris Yule, Kate Dix and Mark Archibald.

Sat 13th - Sun 14th May, Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition, Pentland Hills

Now bonding well as a group, and supportive of each other, the COPE group successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition in the Pentlands. The weather held out, and they were able to tune in to the Scottish Cup Final on the radio, so everyone was happy.

Thanks so much to the volunteers who helped out on this trip: George Jamieson, Ben Tibbets, Rachel Stepek, Chris James and Ali Avery. Thanks to Jonny Wells, who drove the minibus even though he had important exams looming!

Fri 28th April- Tue 2nd May, COPE, Kinlochetive Bothy

The COPE group went from strength to strength in a journey that included a bivouac, a raft across the loch to the bothy, an abseil, some peer led groupwork and some conservation work from lochside to tree nursery.

Big thanks to Johnny Wells, Marky Mark and Ben Tibbets for their Volunteer greatness; Ben Kellet for his technical expertise and porridge.

Sat 22nd - Sun 23rd April, COPE Launch Weekend, Wiston Lodge

The COPE group came together for the first time for an overnight camping trip. The group took part in a team building challenge as well as low and high rope activities.

Fri 7th - Sun 9th April, ABV2 at Glen Etive

Participants from BV4 journeyed north to the bothy and experienced the beauty of Glen Coe and Glen Etive in the Winter.

Fri 31st March - Sun 2nd April, BV4 at Stanhope, Borders

A mixed group from Edinburgh and Glasgow travelled down to Stanhope for the weekend. The group enjoyed a fab time at the bothy and then at the ropes course at Wiston Lodge.

Fri 10th - Mon 13th March, ABV1 at Glen Etive

Participants came together from BV1 and BV2 for this trip to the bothy. The weekend turned into a bit of an epic when the group was snowed in and forced to stay an extra night. Much fun was had all the same and great teamwork was demonstrated by all involved.

This BV set off late due to the chilly conditions. The group had a fantastic time once they reached snowy Stanhope.

The programme kicked off with a special weekend for refugee and asylum seekers from the Glasgow area.

New volunteers experienced the VS bothy for the first time and enjoyed a fun weekend despite the wind and rain!

Wed 1st - Fri 3rd Feb, Working Mid-Week, Glen Etive

Staff and Volunteers spruce up the Bothy with a lick of paint, a snazzy new food storage system and doing an audit for future needs, all in sub-zero temperatures!

Thanks Marky, Jane, Vicky, Rhyddian, Matt and Kirstin for all your hard work this Winter!
