Volunteers

Unlike many other adventure-education organisations, Venture Scotland
is unusual in that volunteers play such a key role in the delivery of our service. Volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds with many different
skills to offer, but are linked by the wish to support the vision of Venture
Scotland. Please read on to learn about the different volunteer roles we offer:
Bothy Venture Volunteers work in partnership with professional youth workers to lead our weekend residentials. This role is well-suited to volunteers with an interest in working with young people and in gaining skills in leading outdoor and/or conservation activities. Please note we will be accepting applications for this role from mid-October to mid-December 2008 ahead of the next round training on the weekend of 23rd-25th January 2009.

We also recruit volunteers to carry out maintenance and conservation work at the bothies we use in the Borders and Glen Etive. Conservation Volunteers are essential for keeping the bothies in good working order and for preparing new environmental projects for our young people to take part in. We require Conservation Team Leaders to coordinate these working trips. Please note we will next be accepting applications for these roles in mid-January 2009 to the end of February 2009.
Finally, volunteers make up the Members of Venture Scotland's Management Committee, which governs the organisation.
The Committee is made up of a Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer and additional members who each have responsibility for areas such as Human Resources; Health and Safety and Volunteer Development. The Committee meets every two months and follows a planned yearly cycle of meetings. We publish vacancies for the Committee on this website and through a range of other publications.
If you'd like to discuss any of the above roles please call us on 0131 475 2395 for more information.
