Volunteer Training 2010
Mon 5th July 2010, Training Evening for New Volunteer Leaders, 6pm-8pm, Glasgow and Edinburgh
The planning session for the forthcoming training weekend.
We are looking for 2 volunteers in Edinburgh and 2 in Glasgow to meet and greet the new volunteers and tell them all about your experiences! We will be taking applications for this training package during May and June 2010. Please call 0131 475 2395 for more information.
Fri 9th - Sun 11th July 2010, Training Weekend for New Volunteer Leaders, Glen Etive
Basic training for new volunteers. You will:
- Look at games and reviews including: Comfort zones, energisers, presentation skills, trust games, indoor games and an introduction to problem solving activities.
- Hear about the Journey: Structure and purpose of trips, Venture Scotland Rationale, Glen Walk about, physical application of the programme.
- Learn about how the bothy works such as switching on the gas and water.
- Experience the
VS approach to challenging scenarios and strategies for working through them.
- Workshop
Volunteers’ skills/strengths/qualities.
- Experience the joys of Glen Etive!
Trainers:

Fri 12th – 14th November 2010, Conservation Team Leader Training, Kinlochetive Bothy.
Join us for an intensive weekend of experiential and reflexive learning sessions focusing on the toolkit needed for running safe, fun and engaging working weekends. We will cover:
- Structure and purpose of conservation trips.
- The role of the CTL and support worker.
- Venture Scotland Rationale - How we work positively with our young people.
- Session planning.
- Risk assessment and tool talks.
- Pre and post trip logistics.
- Setting achievable tasks and reviews.
- Bothy set up/close down procedures.
